About the College
The Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE, https://www.depts.ttu.edu/coe/) serves approximately 5125 undergraduate and 1050 graduate students, supported by 204 faculty and instructors. The college had 856 BS, 580 MS and 84 PhD graduates in the 2024-25 fiscal year. All incoming first year students are enrolled in a common foundational curriculum for all undergraduate programs. Foundational students declare a program of choice and can move into upper division after completing the foundational classes with a TTU GPA of 2.5 or higher. The WCOE consists of the Departments of Chemical Engineering; Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical & Computer Engineering; Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; and Petroleum Engineering, All BS programs listed above and the Environmental Engineering Master's program are ABET accredited. The new BS programs effective Fall 2026 are: Aerospace Engineering, Biological Systems Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology .All departments have Master's and PhD programs. Annual research expenditures at the college are around $25M."

Major/Essential Functions
The Whitacre College Engineering (WCOE) at Texas Tech University invites applications for a part-time instructor starting in Fall 2026

A part-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs on as needed basis.


Faculty Qualifications
As a part-time instructor Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE), you will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the college as needed . Primary duties will be teaching common first year courses including but not limited to Engineering Ethics, Computational Thinking with Data Science and/or Engineering Seminar .

Specific required qualifications are:
  1. A PhD degree in Engineering or Computer Science or a closely related science discipline
  2. Specific experience in teaching courses related to engineering topics stated above.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience at a university level beyond a Teaching Assistantship.
  • Strong communication skills.
