Job Summary:
The Adult and Child Center for Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) has an opening for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Research Services Professional who will assist a PCORI-funded research project team in conducting clinical and community-based research on best practices in engaging youth patient partners in youth advisory boards for research projects. This project will be housed at the Adult and Child Center for Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. ACCORDS is a unique environment supporting innovative and interdisciplinary research across the CU Anschutz campus. ACCORDS focuses on the entire life spectrum as well as on "delivery science," encompassing comparative effectiveness, patient-centered outcomes, and implementation and dissemination research. Infrastructure support is provided jointly from the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHC) and the Dean's Office, School of Medicine (SOM). This project works closely with the Division of Academic Specialists in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN), which is a diverse and growing division dedicated to providing innovative, evidence-based care to improve the health of our patients.
ACCORDS seeks a Research Services Professional (RSP) to support extramural research on youth engagement in research. The position is based at the Anschutz Medical Campus.
This position requires an enthusiasm for research and knowledge, interest in adolescent health, interest in in youth engagement in health outcomes research, and/or interest in health services research process and methods. The candidate will be self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity research environment. A solid fundamental understanding of biological and medical sciences is necessary for this position. Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to independently problem-solve are also required. A successful candidate is anticipated to have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Project coordination (40%)
- Assist with and oversee the day-to-day tasks required for the operation of health services research studies and health research trials
- Schedule subject participation in research studies, coordinating availability of necessary space, and research support (e.g., project manager, research staff, principal investigators)
- Act as a project coordinator on multiple trials/studies
- Participate in subject recruitment efforts, including communicating with patients expressing an interest and all pre-screening/screening activities
- Ensure that the necessary supplies and equipment for studies are in stock and in working order
- Independently master study materials, including but not limited to protocols, informed consent forms, and all other essential study documents for assigned studies
- Perform study related processes, procedures, and assessments as defined in study protocol and in compliance with regulating bodies, under supervision of study coordinators and project manager
- Assist Team Leads, Supervisors and/or management with creation and implementation of processes and procedures and quality improvement initiatives
Data collection and analysis (40%)
- Obtain study subject's information, reviews research protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in research studies
- Perform informed consent process or ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required
- Interview prospective subjects for a variety of research studies. Educate potential subjects on the details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interviews
- Collect, code, and analyze data obtained from research in an accurate and timely manner
- Adhere to research regulatory standards
Youth Co-investigator (20%)
- Bring young adult/youth perspective to all team discussions
- Co-lead project objectives with faculty co-investigator, as appropriate
- Work in close coordination with other research team members, including youth co-investigators and advisors
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1-2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Entry Professional:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as psychology, pre-health, sociology, public health, or similar
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
Intermediate Professional:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as psychology, pre-health, sociology, public health, or similar
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
- One (1) year of experience supporting clinical or health services research projects; interacting with study participants in a health-focused research setting; and engaging patient and community partners in a research context.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of clinical research or related experience
- One (1) year experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems)
- One (1) year of experience using REDCap
- Experience working with youth leaders or advisors, especially in a research setting
- Experience as a youth/adolescent patient partner on research, especially in chronic disease or specialty care
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
- Knowledge of partner engagement in research principles and practices
- Lived expertise as a youth/adolescent patient, especially in chronic disease or specialty care
- Experience advising research study teams from the perspective of a patient partner
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
- Highly organized and attentive to detail
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Highly self-motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to operate effectively and efficiently according to the needs and demands of multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to represent the University and the Department of OB/GYN in a professional and positive manner

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as
Entry: $24,950-$34,536 annually
Intermediate: $27,151- $36,383 annually
