About the Position:
College and Program Development generates financial support for Cal State Fullerton, benefiting each of the eight colleges, Student Affairs, Titan Athletics, Fullerton Arboretum and the Pollak Library. We are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team as the Associate Director of Development, Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) and Natural Science and Mathematics (NSM). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development, the Associate Director of Development participates in fundraising and event activities that are consistent with the priorities of University Advancement, as well as the College of Engineering and Computer Science and College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Responsibilities include fundraising, events, unit-based crowdfunding, alumni engagement programming, donor communications and stewardship. Responsible for the maintenance of a strategic fundraising plan with prospect management responsibilities and the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors including corporate and foundation leaders, supporters, alumni, parents, faculty, and emeriti. Partners with the Senior Director of Development and other team members related to advancement activities in the units. Performs gift processing procedures through the Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of three years of fundraising experience. Ability to solicit and secure leadership gifts. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement persuasive cultivation ideas and techniques that strengthen the giving pipeline. Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Proven experience planning and delivering meaningful donor events. Ability to understand the culture of a university. Ability to work with teams of faculty, staff, students, and volunteers. Ability to travel locally to meet with prospective donors. Proficiency in the use of general office equipment and Windows based personal computers. Proficiency in using administrative computing system(s), MS Office applications, and other relevant software applications. Knowledge in annual campaign programs, corporate and foundation philanthropy, volunteer management (or related experience as a volunteer leader), and special event planning.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in major gift fundraising with individuals and corporations. Experience with volunteer groups and campaigns.
